September 1998
New Live Concert Recording called Live & Kickin' in DVD Format only Recorded live in
March 1998, before an invitation-only audience at "The Zone," an after-hours
nightclub at the annual convention of NARM, the National Association of Recording
Merchandisers in San Francisco, Trout masterfully grabs the capacity crowd's attention
with his gritty voice and guitar pyrotechnics. This performance presents Walter Trout at
his category-defying best.
September 1998
WTB are doing their first US tour to promote the CD called Walter Trout. The tour has
taken them to Sturgis, where they got a great response out of the crowd and their
Harleys... Other stops on the way were Chicago, St.Paul, Salt Lake City, Lincoln NE etc.
The last gig was at the House Of The Blues, where WTB opened up for Joe Cocker. It was a
great show to a sold out house.
August There is, what Platinum Entertainment are calling, a "bootleg" CD and
video on Walter Trout Band becoming available at key independant stores in the states. The
CD is two tracks recorded live at his performance in March at the NARM convention and the
video is the whole performance. They are setting that up as an added value item at stores
for giveaway with purchase of the album.
August 1998
Ruf Records has released a sampler with WTB performing "Got a Broken Heart"
along with Taj Mahal, Luther and Bernard Allison, and James Solberg (used to back up
Luther A) and others. The Ruf sampler was made for Blues Revue Magazine. There's one
cut from Walter Trout Band ("Got A Broken Heart") and 9 other tracks from other
Ruf artists including upcoming release from James Solberg. It's not for sale. The sampler
was packaged with the July/August issue of Blues Revue and was mentioned in a label ad
that Ruf ran mentioning all of their artists. Readers could write in (and send $10) and
request a copy.
August 7th & 8th 1998
The WTB are appearing at the Easy Rider Festival in Sturgis South Dakota. The "Easy
Rider" gathering of bikers from all over the world is the oldest motorcycle rally in
the US. It goes on all week long, finishing up with the shows on the weekend of 7, 8 &
9. Usually Friday is the biggest night getting around 10,000 to 20,000 people. WTB will be
playing both Friday and Saturday. Other artists appearing are Lynyrd Skynrd and Corey
Stevens.
May 16th 1998
The WTB are appearing at the Doheny Blues Festival in Dana Point, California at 2:45 and
then they will be signing autographs at the Virgin Megastore booth at the festival
April 1998
The album "Walter Trout" has been in a national listening post program for the
month of April with 60 or so of the top SoundScan reporting independant record stores in
the country.
March 16th 1998
The WTB are appearing at the PGD Zone during the NARN convention in San Francisco.
Polygram Distribution Group (PGD) are showcasing the WTB at this National Retailers
Convention. This is great exposure for the them, with all the people who own and operate
the stores where the CD's are sold.
February 14th 1998
Special Valentine's Day performance of the Walter Trout Band at the Virgin Megastore in
Costa Mesa at 2pm. Anyone purchasing the new CD on the 14th will receive a special heart
shaped CD single of Got A Broken Heart and Tender Heart, both from the new album.
January 27th 1998
New CD released in the USA only, entitled "Walter Trout". This CD is a re-packed
version of Postively Beale Street which was released in Europe during 1997
January 9th 1998
Drummer Bernie Pershey re-joins the WTB. He has now overcome his health problems.
